Our Learning
Our ambitious curriculum is aimed at closing the attainment gap that many of the pupils have when they join the academy.
All students follow an adapted National Curriculum and have opportunities to explore a broad range of topics and subjects. At Key Stage 4 students have access to a range of GCSE’s including English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Combined Sciences as well as a range of options subjects.
Below is a brief overview of each Key Stage and what you can expect.
Key Stage 2 – The curriculum focusses on engagement and a love for learning through a rounded and enriched curriculum. Pupils will cover an adapted National Curriculum which will incorporate British values and PSHCRE.
Key Stage 3 – Pupils are grouped in their individual year groups. Learning covers an adapted National Curriculum.
Key Stage 4 – Pupils in years 10 and 11 are taught in separate year groups. Pupils in KS4 work towards a range of qualifications including GCSE, Functional Skills and Vocational qualifications. We follow pupils’ interests and future career choices where possible and provide additional relevant qualifications where possible.
Key Stage 5 – Our Key Stage 5 offer will be bespoke to each pupil. Pupils will be offered qualifications and accreditation which builds on prior learning in both core subject areas and vocational learning. Pupils also continue to undertake sessions addressing wellbeing, personalised support and future options.
